Description
The David Muller Collection of Hermann Muller contains original correspondence as well as some photographs and artifacts, and spans the years 1900-1945. This collection consists of about 470 items of original correspondence, as well as a few items enclosed in the correspondence including about 15 photographs, and some artifacts. The correspondence is primarily personal and can be generally categorized as correspondence from H.J. Muller to Jessie (his first wife), correspondence from H.J. Muller to David, or correspondence from Jessie to Carlos (Jessie’s second husband and H.J. Muller’s graduate student). Other correspondence includes letters and postcards from Hermann Muller Sr. (H.J. Muller’s father), Ada Muller Greismaier (H.J. Muller’s sister), Edgar Altenburg (H.J. Muller’s childhood friend and colleague), and other graduate students, friends, and family of H.J. Muller and Jessie. The artifacts include notes, marriage certificates, newspaper clippings, a flower, leaves, a cigarette, and an aluminum disc voice recording.
